Okay, so it’s no new news to you that there have been riots happening here in the UK. Let’s be honest, it was bound to happen sometime given the effects of our economy and just the situation that we find ourselves living in today, it’s nearly de ja vu of the big depression in the 80s.

What’s getting to me is WHY people feel they have to riot in this way. People are making excuses and feel that these excuses justify their actions… I have news for you, you’re not the only people in the UK going through some pretty tough times at the moment.I live in one of the most deprived places in the UK and you don’t see us breaking into shops and smashing up communities to make our points, we just hope that things change.

The most devastating tragic loss that has come out of these riots is that four men have died, houses have been burned to the ground and peoples livelihoods have been completely demolished. It’s heart breaking and yet they stand up and say the government has had it coming.

I completely and utterly understand that there isn’t much out there at the moment but we must continue to try and do our best otherwise what are we living for?

My personal opinion is the reason why society has hit an all time low is because we have pushed God out of our societies and man has thought that he can handle this world on his own! What a huge mistake… God is the creator of the world, not only that but He loves every single person (even rioters) in this world. I know that Christians all over the world at this time are praying for God to intercede but sometimes you have to realise how can God intercede or why should He want to intercede somewhere when His world has shut him out? We all know that our Lord is a God of love and mercy but he is also the God of wisdom and strength and at this time we need all the wisdom we can get to restore our World. Prayer is our most powerful weapon as a Christian, we need suit up in the armour of God and lean on Him for the decisions we make.

My prayers are with you all.

I was so saddened on Friday when I received a text message from Jamie asking me to turn the news on. This tragedy in Norway has hit me pretty hard and I have no idea how the Norwegians must be feeling or the families of the victims. This is a time where a country needs our prayer the most. The same goes for East Africa and the terrible drought that is happening there

. It’s so easy to take a step back and wonder what is happening to our world and ask the more important question, ‘Why is this happening!’. The answer is, well really I don’t have all the answers. I can just offer up the greatest gift of all and pray for those in need and pray for comfort for those lost and hurting at this time.

Father God, I pray that You will be with the people who need You most at this time. I pray that they will receive Your grace, love and most importantly Your strength. I pray that they will endure Your peace that surpasses all understanding. May they stand still and know that You are God. You care so much for Your people and pray that they will feel You close to them at this time. In your Heavenly name. Amen

New Hope – Atlanta Georgia

I just had to share with you how immensely blessed I have felt this past week by the New Hope Baptist church from Atlanta Georgia!

This church has such a strong passion for the South Wales valleys and even stronger passion to see God move in the lives of the lost here. NH come over every year and put on numerous concerts and events to reach the hearts of the people who need a touch from God. I’ve been so overwhelmed by their love, compassion and spirit. This is an amazing missionary and so many people have responded to their plea. I can’t begin to thank them enough for their amazing heart for our country. I pray an equal blessing on their church and the States in which these people have traveled from.

I trust You with everything!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 ♥

Our church is going through a bit of change as of late. Our pastor has decided that the way forward for our church is to go to just one Sunday service rather than having two. As you can imagine a few people have different views on this in our church and it has been a rather challenging time. We have lost a member and people are worried about divided loyalties if people do decide that they would like to go to another church for the other meeting.

I’ve been praying so much about this as I completely trust my pastor’s decision. Yesterday I read this…

Is There A Better Way?

‘Let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us’ Philippians 3:15

In 1829, the Governor of New York petitioned the President of the United States about the latest danger to society. If this danger was allowed to spread, he argued, young men would lose their way in life. The social order would collapse, women and children would become victims and America would fall an easy target to war. What was this terrible threat set to destroy mankind? Drugs? Terrorism? Nuclear holocaust? Nope. Trains! The Governor predicted Armageddon because of Thomas the Tank Engine’s forebears. The world was changing and people were scared. You see, when life is revolutionised it’s natural to feel trepidation. Do you feel like hitting the panic button when things around you are changing? Well we can’t stay in school uniform forever – sooner or later we take the lessons learned in school and put them to use in the big, wide world. Sure, you’re worried because everything is different but don’t let it weigh you down. ‘Do not fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers … before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness … will settle you down’ (Phil. 4-6 TM). A blank canvas may be scary but it’s also exciting. God had great fun dreaming up your future: it’s custom built to fit you, so why not step into it? ‘Form your purpose by asking for counsel, then carry it out using all the help you can get’ (Prov. 20:18)

We can’t pray for progress and not expect change. I pray that this will open new doors for our church as we are knocking and expecting an answer. May the town of Cwmaman be blown away by the spirit of the Holy One.

If we want things to change, maybe first we should examine ourselves and make sure we change the things within us before reaching out to others.

Just a thought…

Hello! This is my first proper break from work since I have started so do accept my apologies for not being as attentive as I should have been to my baby blog.

A lot has happened…

Work is going great. I am working for a charity, something I’ve always wanted to do and I’ve also made a promise to myself to do new things and take more adventures in my life!

Sometimes its hard to just kick back and reflect, a kind of ‘count your blessings’ so to speak. I’ve had a pretty tough time as of late. I’ve been hurt by people who I never thought would hurt me and I’ve been hiding in the dark for a while not wanting to take anything in… The only thing that was keeping me going was my job and church life. But God is so good… Even though all the mundane rubbish that gets us down He signs through in ways that you can never imagine.

Last night Jamie & I went to see James Blunt. To be honest, I’ve never really liked JB prior to last night but after his concert I think I pretty much adore the man. He was outstanding! His support group were also amazing – Wakey!Wakey! I met the lead singer, Matt Grubbs who is also in One Tree Hill and he signed my CD.

I’m in love ❤ x
